MUSIC: TOUR OF BIRKIN TREE - di Enrico Lastrico


Birkin Tree, the most famous and popular Italian band of Irish music, carried out a tour in Northern Italy in the early days of February. The group played in Turin, Quiliano (Municipality in Savona’s Province), and Milan. Caitlin Nic Gabhann accompanied the group during the tour. The Irish dancer and concert player has worked with internationally renowned artists. People who have mainly inspired Caitlin during her career have been her father, the famous violinist Antoin Mac Gabhann, her teacher, Méabh Ni Lochlainn, and the famous artist Michel O’Raghallaigh.
Caitlin has performed in Europe, America and Asia and she is a dancer of River Dance’s troupe. River Dance is a theatrical show of Irish music that is proposed in Europe and Usa. The artist has won for three times the prestigious prize “All Ireland”. Caitlin is attending a course of music and Irish language in University of Cork currently. She has already collaborated with the group of Savona. Birkin Tree has released four albums since the beginning of its career, the group performed more than a thousand concerts in Europe. The band is well know in Ireland, it participated in programs of Radio Kerry, Radio Clare and Rté (broadcasting station which recorded its concerts). Birkin Tree participated in Italian programs and its music is broadcasted in a lot of European radios. The group was nominated ambassador of Irish Tourist Board, Guinness Italia and Jameson Whiskey for various years. Birkin Tree had the honor to playing for the Irish Minister of Agriculture during his two visits to Italy.
